How I Edit: The Soap Creek Approach to Post-Processing
Editing is where photography becomes art. It's also where a lot of photographers develop habits that age poorly.
The goal: images that look like the moment felt
I'm not trying to make every image look the same. I'm trying to make each image look like the truest version of what was in front of the camera.
Skin first
Getting skin tones right is the most important technical task in portrait editing. The goal is skin that looks healthy and natural — not orange, not magenta, not smoothed into plastic.
Light, not filters
I don't apply preset filters to whole galleries. Every image gets individual attention. A preset that looks perfect on one image can ruin the next.
Turnaround time
Standard portrait sessions are delivered within 2 weeks. Weddings within 4-6 weeks. You're not getting a batch-processed dump — you're getting a curated set of images I'm proud to put my name on.
